SmallBizSoftwareLab is an independent resource for small business owners who use QuickBooks and the other software that keeps a small business running: accounting, payroll, invoicing, and payments. We focus on two things people actually search for at the exact moment they need an answer: what to do when something breaks, and what something really costs.
Why This Site Exists
Most small business owners are not accountants. When QuickBooks throws an error code before payroll is due, or a pricing page buries the real monthly cost behind a dozen add-ons, the goal here is to answer that specific question directly, without turning it into a sales pitch first.
Who Runs This Site
Alejandro started SmallBizSoftwareLab out of a background in software development and IT, working close enough to both the technical and the business side of small companies to see how often a broken piece of software costs more time than it should. This site is written and maintained independently. It is not run by Intuit, Xero, or any other software vendor covered here.
How We Approach Accuracy
Software changes often and without warning from the vendor. Where possible, error fixes on this site are tested directly in a real or trial instance of the software before being published, and each article shows a “last verified” date so you know how current it is. Where a fix has not yet been tested first-hand, the article says so plainly rather than presenting general knowledge as personal experience.
Pricing and cost figures are treated the same way: where we cannot verify a specific number against the vendor’s current pricing page, we describe costs in general ranges instead of stating a precise figure we cannot stand behind.
